In 2023, the Furnace Festival at Caherconnell held its first smelting training courses and schools. Next to this, several smelting experiment were undertaken: to increase the yield and to try and smelt new types of ore. Again, visitors truly appreciated the new expanded free guided tours on the Festival and the history of iron production in Ireland.
